Design System

About: The Love Serve Remember Foundation is dedicated to preserving and continuing the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba and Ram Dass. When I joined the LSRF team, they did not have a centralized source for all their digital assets or design assets.

A design system is a structure of components to manage the entire design at scale. This creates a consistent and accessible design experience.

The Challenge

When I joined the Love serve remember foundation they didn't have much UI or UX design work. But they were eager to start a design system once I explained and presented the benefits to the team. So because I was to start the project I had a lot to touch on. To grow the design system while we agree on the final designs had been the process so far. Whats presented is the design system as of September 2025.

I needed to:

  • Grow the design piece by piece

  • Match modern design systems

The Benefits

  • Strengthens brand identity by making everything feel cohesive

  • Designers and developers can reuse components instead of recreating them, which speeds up design and development cycles

  • As products grow, a design system allows teams to add new features without reinventing the wheel

The Approach

I started by creating a small style guide that eventually grew into the existing design system. So with every new design it gets cemented into the design system.

Scaleable

Makes it easier to maintain consistency across large organizations with multiple teams. Without it, different teams might solve the same design problem in slightly different ways, leading to a fragmented experience

Documentation

Documentation goes beyond showing what a button looks like — it explains how and when to use it. Often includes both design guidelines (dos and don’ts) and technical specs. This creates a shared language between disciplines, minimizing handoff friction. This was done with most features and buttons
